Crack and crevice applications are highly recommended for controlling cockroaches inside a building because they allow for targeted treatment in areas where cockroaches are likely to hide and travel. This method involves applying pesticide in the small cracks, crevices, and other narrow spaces where roaches typically live and breed, such as behind baseboards, under sinks, and inside cabinets.

Using this approach minimizes exposure to non-target areas and reduces potential risk to humans and pets, while also ensuring that the pesticide reaches areas that might be difficult to access using broader application methods. Crack and crevice treatments are effective because they focus on the specific locations where cockroaches harbor, enhancing the likelihood of contact with the pest and improving overall control.

In contrast, other methods like fogging can disperse pesticides throughout a larger area, potentially leading to less effective control and increased risk to people and pets. Surface spraying can also pose similar challenges by covering surfaces more broadly rather than effectively targeting cracks and crevices. Granular applications may not penetrate into the hiding areas of cockroaches as effectively as liquid formulations used in crack and crevice treatments.
